NCAEP is pleased to announce the launch of a new lunch and learn partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District.  Meetings will be held across the state monthly.  Topics will change quarterly.  The first meeting, Mitigation Update, will be held on 26 November in Charlotte, with additional meetings covering the same topic being planned in Raleigh and Wilmington in January and February 2019.

Registration by COB on 21 November is required.  Lunch at the inaugural meeting is sponsored by WK Dickson.  Please contact Ward Marotti (wmarotti@wkdickson.com) to learn about subsequent meetings' sponsorship opportunities and to suggest future meeting topics.

Meeting Abstract:

The Wilmington District has been a leader in both stream and wetland mitigation since compensatory mitigation became a requirement for Clean Water Act permits.  And since the issuance of the 2008 Federal Mitigation Rule, we have made many improvements in how we address the need for mitigation for permits issued by the District, and how we go about processing and reviewing mitigation sites. Mr. Todd Tugwell, a Mitigation Project Manager with the Wilmington District, will discuss a number of topics, such as the current status and trends of mitigation bank and In-Lieu Fee sites, recent updates to District guidance, initiatives that the IRT is currently working on, and other mitigation-related topics.  Mr. Tugwell will also be available to answer questions, and interaction is encouraged throughout the meeting.
